HPASM not loading on RHEL3 Update 3
Hi all.
We have just deployed some Dual CPU HP DL380 G4's running RHEL 3 Update 3. We have installed Proliant Support Pack 7.1.1.
When the server boots, we get a delay of about 5mins while the server loads hpasm. Everything stops while hpasm loads. Once the OS has finished booting, a 'service hpasm show' shows that hpasm isn't actually running, but some of it's sub-processes ARE running ie. we get:
--------------
hpasmd is stopped...
Status of Foundation Agents (cmafdtn): cmawebd cmathreshd cmahostd cmapeerd
cmawebd is running...
cmathreshd is running...
cmahostd is running...
cmapeerd is running...
Status of Server Agents (cmasvr): cmastdeqd cmahealthd cmaperfd
cmastdeqd is running...
cmahealthd is stopped...
cmaperfd is running...
--------------
Now I have updated hpasm as per http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/22093.html
but the problem remains.
FYI /var/spool/compaq/hpasmd.log contains:
----------------
Starting Proliant System Health Monitor (hpasmd) :hpasmd parent timed out
Shutting down Proliant System Health Monitor (hpasmd):
Shutting down Proliant System Health Monitor (hpasmd):
Starting Proliant System Health Monitor (hpasmd) :hpasmd parent timed out
Shutting down Proliant System Health Monitor (hpasmd):

--------------
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Ryan.

Re: HPASM not loading on RHEL3 Update 3
Have you tried running:
hpasm activate
or
/etc/init.d/hpasm configure
and
/opt/compaq/hprsm/hprsm activate
Do you have SNMP up and running?
I currently have several RH 3 Update 3 servers with HPASM/HPRSM up and running fine.

Re: HPASM not loading on RHEL3 Update 3
Hi,
I have the same problem with RA-ES 3 u3, DL380-G4, I try to install the hpasm 7.1.1b-95 and its still take 5 min to start. I download the new hpasm 7.2.0-198 and that solve my problem.
you can download it from:
