New rpm for configuring selinux

Shalom to all,

I saw a new gui configuration tool for selinux at HP Technology forum. It made selinux usable where it was always a turn off in installations in the past.

I have searched unsuccessfully for this tool since that point.

I was told it was part of Fedora Core 6 which comes out today.

I would like two things:

1) A link to an rpm that has new new tool.
2) I would like to know if anyone has experience with the tool on Centos or RH ES 4. I would like to know if I can install it and use it on those platforms.

Regard,

You may try to find an answer here

Despite the name Baan, they are pretty linux minded.

Re: New rpm for configuring selinux

The download of Fedora 6 is very slow at the moment this has just been realesed and lots of Fedora server are down for maitemance so just very slow Bit torrent download at the moment ..

If you can best wait a couple of day's

By the way there is also a live cd/dvd for fedora Core 6 just realesed

"Fedora Unity releases Fedora Core 6 (Zod) Live-Spin ISO images. "

http://torrent.fedoraunity.org/torrents

perhaps this is faster to download today and let you test/try to see if this is realy what you need !

Can not comment on the tools as I have not try them out !

Re: New rpm for configuring selinux

I got FC6 scripted and will see if I can find the RPM and if so whether or not it will install and work with selinux on prior releases. I kind of doubt it, but there is hope until there is none.

Re: New rpm for configuring selinux

I have my answer.

FC6 won't install anywhere but the utility for configuring security has installation pre-requisites that make it impossible to install on a non-Fedora system.

Re: New rpm for configuring selinux

Just wondering if anybody has looked this page over as of yet.

The comment I found interesting is "It is scheduled to first appear in Fedora Core 6, but it will still be immature. The goal is to reach a robust status for inclusion into the forth coming RHEL5 release."

Sounds like a wonderful idea, but it also doesn't seem quite ready for prime time just yet.

Re: New rpm for configuring selinux

Shalom,

Everyone gets points for participating in my threads. You gotta be really obnoxious to get zero from me.

I am a bit perturbed with the folks doing Linux demos at HP technology forum. They showed off this little tool and it LOOKED great.

Apparently they were running it on FC6 test 2 or test 3.

At RHCE class they described Fedora Core as "an enthusiasts release" e.g. not for prodction. You might think such a statement is designed to push RH sales, but the same lecture acknowledged if you don't want to pay you can get the exact same functionality on a binary level from CentOS.

So I'm a little peeved.

I want the darned configurator ported to RH ES 4.
