i am trying to configure a pop3 on my RhEL4 machine so i installed the imap packages from add or remove packages.
i restarted xinetd and when running the command chkconfig ipop3 on. i am getting the error " error reading information on service ipop3: no such file or directory"
so what are the necessary packages to install?
one more thing how to know if a package is on CD1 or 2 or 3 or 4? comps.xml doesn't mention the location.
THANKS for any help.

Re: POP
You should use the vsftpd service. The dovecot service. This service provides pop and imap protocols, the configuration file is /etc/dovecot.conf, you should use POPS instead of POP. Then, enable the dovecot service.

Re: POP
You have to install dovecot-0.99.11-2.EL4.1.i386.rpm .
And take a look at following document in regards of setup pop3 server.

Solution
Shalom Basso,
pop was taken out of xinted for RH 4.
dovecot is my imap/pop server of choice.
cyrus will also work.
Both are in the original install cd's.
