						Agents _for which software_?
And _which_ 64-bit version of RedHat Enterprise Linux 5? RHEL 5 supports several 64-bit architectures: x86_64 and Itanium are probably the most common ones.
On x86_64, the support for 32-bit x86 software is just a matter of installing all the required 32-bit library packages (compat*.rpm).
On Itanium, the support is done via x86 Emulation Layer, which is a bit more limited and trickier to install: see the RHEL 5 installation instructions for Itanium for the procedure.
To my experience, both Veritas NetBackup and BMC Patrol performed acceptably on 64-bit platforms using 32-bit x86 agents. Of course, if you use multi-terabyte files, a 32-bit backup agent might not be capable of handling them: check the documentation of the backup program for known limits.
