REHL 5 installation on a Proliant DL 380 G6
We are trying to install REHL 5 on an Proliant DL 380 G6,but it is asking us for CD/DVD drivers and we seem not to be able to find the correct one for the installation. We upgrade the firmware and that did not help either. We tried the latest drivers from hp.com and that did not make a difference either.

Re: REHL 5 installation on a Proliant DL 380 G6
What update of RHEL 5 ? u2, u3, u4, u5 ?
A DL380 G6 is not really something new anymore?
I have a number of G6s running from 5.3 up to 5.5 and have never had any issue. RHEL is pretty good about having updated installation media.

Re: REHL 5 installation on a Proliant DL 380 G6
Strange. I just did 2 DL380 G6's with RHEL 5.5 and RHEL 6.0 (alternate boot). But I never used the physical optical media drive - I used iLO virtual media (ISO image).
Have you tried going the vMedia/iLO approach? I am surprised people are still using optical media for installs onto enterprise class X86 servers that have vMedia capability.
But indeed your issue is worrisome.

Re: REHL 5 installation on a Proliant DL 380 G6
Shalom Eric,
G6 requires RHEL 5.2 or above. Anything below will not have the proper drivers for disk or DVD player and thus will not install at all.
