Rename my /Spare partition?

Greetings,
I've created this /spare partition awhile back and I have no data in this partition at the moment. Now, I would like to allocate this /spare partition to something else, how would I go about doing so? I am new in the Linux RH AS 3.0 world.

umount it.

change the name of the folder and the entry in /etc/fstab

then mount the new one

mount /newname
