Scandic characters issue on HP-UX 11.11

I have some Scandic characters in one of my scripts, which I pass to a program. This passing was working absolutely fine a couple of days ago, but now its not working properly. The same issue is also faced in Java programs that I am running.
What are the parameters that I should be looking for on HP-UX box?
