Serviceguard for linux and 3com nics
Im planninng a linux cluster with service guard.
2 ml350g3
mas500g2 starter kit
2 integrated nics for heartbeat
4 3com 3C996b-t nics for lan access(bonded)
The only supported nics in HPs docs are obviously Hp`s NICS
I will like to know if other nics just like the 3coms mentioned can work.

Others may work, but if you have any issues or problems, then you would need to replace them with supported cards.

Re: Serviceguard for linux and 3com nics
I will like to know if its all about testing, or if this issue is related to SG design.
If SG operates over standard nic drivers and driver works ok and performs bonding ok, my question is why it wont work.
My main problem is that my project has already a 60 day delay due to Service Guard shipment from HP, and if I have to get supported nics from HP by now I will have to delay this project another week or two due to shipmment delays from HP.
My customer is about to kill me.
Best Regards

Re: Serviceguard for linux and 3com nics
Ive made al little more pre installation research.
The list of Hps supported Nic ares based on the Intel e1000 or the broacom 5700 series chipsets.
The Hp special supported drivers are based on these 2 families.
And the Hp specially tested bonding driver operates specificly on both of these families linux driver sets.
By the other side the 3com boards that the customer have also are broadcom 5700 series and the linux driver published at 3com is the same b5700 rmp file.
Two questions.
May the hp dirvers work over these borads ?.
If the HP drivers work, will be ok for Service Guard?
Best regards, and thanks for the help.
