Unable to use Disk Druid to mirror O/S disks on rx4640

Unable to use Disk Druid to mirror O/S disks on rx4640

I am trying to install Red Hat AS 3.0 (update 4) on a rx4640 which has two 36 GB drives. I want to mirror the disks but Disk Druid doesn't give me any file system types other than ext2 and ext3 when I try to create a new partition. Also, how can I mirror the two partitions created by the Enablement Kit that currently exist only on sda?

It looks like part of my problem is that the gnome-terminal (via RH Linux WS 3.0) from which I am running the install is not properly displaying all of disk druids options.

Disk druid requires you to set up software raid before filesystems.

create a 1 gb software raid on disk 1
create a 1 gb software raid on disk 2

Now you can click create raid and create a raid filesystem with ext3 or swap and pull down the raid 1 option from the menu.

In spite of efforts to improve it, the process is far from intuitive.

Re: Unable to use Disk Druid to mirror O/S disks on rx4640

I managed to work through the menu which isn't displaying properly (I also tried an xterm from an HP-UX box) and was able to create two partitions (/ and swap). I then changed both partitions to "software RAID" file system type. Next I hit the RAID option and ran into a problem. For some reason it wants a mount point. What should I put since sda3 is swap and sda4 is /? I suspect I'm again missing information on the RAID menu display. Also, where do I specify the mirror disk (sdb)?

I punted on trying to install Linux from a telnet session and went ahead and connected a monitor and USB Keybd/mouse. HP actually told me not to use the Enablement Kit and just install Linux directly.

I was able "see" everything and I used disk druid to mirror two partitions across two disks.

I would suggest using a directly connected KVM if you need to use disk druid.
