64 Bit HP BiDi Channel Components Installer -- The installer has encountered an unexpected error
Hello everyone,
I have a Windows 2008R2 environment (2 DC's, one which runs as a print server), a number of Windows 2008R2 terminal servers. We print to a number of network-HP laserjets (4015, P3005, 4250) each using the newest PCL6 driver for the printer model from HP, using the winprint RAW print processor.
On my terminal servers, I see a lot of the following errors in the application eventlog:
ID: 10005
User: SYSTEM
Description: Product: 64 Bit HP BiDi Channel Components Installer -- The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2753. The arguments are: ipm12.8444768D_9A2B_44BE_BD52_02FB1B25C55E, ,
I have seen a number of threads where this question has been asked, dating back to january 2009, however I found no solution yet.
Does anyone know what the cause and resolution of this error is?
Sincerely,
--
Rien Broekstra

Re: 64 Bit HP BiDi Channel Components Installer -- The installer has encountered an unexpected error
Hello Rien,
This is unbelievable but it seems that many people are having the same problem with installatiions of any kind on the 2k8 servers. Most of the problems are caused by the UAC being enabled. Drove us nuts for a day or two. see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc709691(WS.10).aspx
Disabling this ridiculous control should get you back on track. I say it's ridiculous because the UAC restricts Admins from installing or running malicious programs but then MS also allows administrators to turn off UAC.....
Have a great day.
