Connect a notebook to a TV

I'm using an ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 card in a notebook and want to use the s-video port to transfer the display to a colour television. I'm using a cord with s-video connection in one end and SCART on the other.
I receive the picture on the TV, but it is only B&W!
Can anyone help how can I correct this and receive the same color picture on the TV, as well?
Thanks, Zsolt

Re: Connect a notebook to a TV

Hi,

can you post the manufacturer and the os/sp?
Have you checked the cable for broken lines?

greetings,

Re: Connect a notebook to a TV

The notebook is a IBM ThinkPad T30 (sorry, otherwise I'm using a HP Omnibook 500, but this problem came in front of me), the OS is Win XP SP1.
The cable is new, I just bought it.
Work only 1/2 day - any other 12 hrs filled automatically...

Re: Connect a notebook to a TV

Hi Zsolt,

I had a similar problem wit an N400c, it was resolved by changing a setting (can't remember exactly) in the BIOS, to PAL (Europe), it should be NTSC for US.

Re: Connect a notebook to a TV

I've same problemi using Presario 2710EA, windows xp HE.
In video card property I set PAL-B either NTSC. With PAL-B I see some color but with a lot of snow. I changed wire but I didn't solved.

Re: Connect a notebook to a TV

I'm sad a little because I can read similar messages on other forums.
Dear Ty, I did not find any of settings in the BIOS in connection with the S-Video port.
Somebody have written that I need to connect the video card through the VGA connector using a VGA to SCART converter, as last chance. What do you think?

Re: Connect a notebook to a TV

Hey Guys,
I have managed to solve the problem. The cable was defective none the less it is new.
As new solution I used a cable with S-video on its double than I connected an RCA cable with an RCA - S-video converter, than I used an RCA to SCART cable as conecting to the TV. The picture turned to color immediately!
Is there anybody who can understand my solution?

Re: Connect a notebook to a TV

Hi Zolt,
happy you solved.
Your solution is same I use to connect my videocamera to TV.
Perhaps, s-video cable doesn't carry full video signal?

Bye

P.S. Now I try same with my notebook.

Re: Connect a notebook to a TV

Hi,

can you find a replacement of the cable, you used in the first place to check the broken cable theory?
