hp nc4010 fan noise
my brand new notebook (2 weeks) had the motherboard changed after a default.
Now the fan cooler is always on, and no difference if it is AC powered or on batteries.
Tryed to change settings in the bios screen but nothing happened.
Question:
Is it normal that the fan (very very noisy) is always on?
Thank you for the help.

Re: hp nc4010 fan noise
What OS are you running? What BIOS version? Is it F.2F? If not try: (assuming XP Pro)

Re: hp nc4010 fan noise
my fan has been running constantly since i purchased it. was told via forums and hp assistence that this is fairly normal, though i still find it difficult to believe.
using xp home, sp 2,
and bios of KE.M1.71 03/16/2003.
see sys info attached...
and fan goes on and on and on...
if this constant fan running
can be corrected please advise also.

Re: hp nc4010 fan noise
Thank you very much for your posts.
tryed updating bios (F 2F): no results.
My collegue has the same notebook and the fan is NOT always onand very silent.
I have windows XP pro. sp 2
Processor 1.80 GHz
512 ram
Contacted tech assistance. They say it is NOT normal.
So in 1 or 2 day I will have again a visit from a tech guy bringing another motherboard and new fan.
I will let you know the news.

New machine.. already had motherboard changed.. still problems! I would say throw it back to HP an get them to fix it properly! It is still under warranty.

Re: hp nc4010 fan noise
as promised I post this as an update.
The tech. guy arrived and discovered that the a cable connecting the fan had the platic cover broken. This was giving a wrong input to the fan detecting an higher temperature than the real one.
Now is fixed.
I want to thank all of you that tryed to help me in solving this problem.
