Installing SBS 2011 Standard ROK on DL380 G5

All,

I am having a hard time with this one. I saw on various locations on the web that SBS 2011 Standard would install on the DL380 G5 with the simple addition of putting the x64 SAS/SATA storage driver on a USB key. I obtained the HP branded version and it will not install. I load the DVD and the USB key, when I get to the point of selecting a drive, I click on Load Driver, load the P400 driver, and then try to start the installation. I immediately get a message saying the the installation failed and to see the set up logs (naturally, it doesn't tell me where the setup logs are!). I KNOW that this works on the Microsoft branded software; how do I get the HP branded software to install on an HP server? Here's the link to the installation procedure: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02723824/c02723824.pdf

TIA,

Larry Schuldt

Hi Larry

Im not sure where it says that DL380 G5 supports server 2011, as far as Im aware it isn't, the link that you posted doesnt list Dl380 g5

Ideally for any supported servers for 2011, depending on the controller ( DL380 g5 can have p400 or E200 ) you would have to download specific controller drivers from Windows 2008 R2 and should work.
