Upgrade environment Windows server 2019 datacenter ROK to 2022 datacenter ROK

Hi,

I have an host HPE Proliant wich support a VMWARE environment VMWARE Vsphere v8.0.
I use it to virtualize Windows server 2019 Datacenter servers. I already have a licence Windows serveur 2019 DATACENTER ROK. Today i'd like to upgrade my windows serveurs from 2019 to 2022.

What do i need to do for upgrade ? Only buy a Windows server 2022 Datacenter ROK licence and install my news VMs or do i need to do something more with my HPE host ProLiant DL380 Gen10 ?

Do i need to add the news windows server 2022 Datacenter ROK licence directly on my host ?

Thanks for your help and answers.

Hello there, since you have ROK licenses, it means you may get in touch with an HPE representative to get the new licenses for the Windows Server 2022. Once you have the new licenses, you have two options: either upgrade the current VM's from 2019 to 2022, or create new VM's to perform a clean install and then delete the old VM's.

There's no need to perform anything at the hypervisor level(the ESXi), however it is always a good practice to keep everything up to date, the firmware of the server(iLO, BIOS, etc), and make sure that you're using the HPE ESXi custom image.

Best regards.
