Word 97 for windows cell reference

Does anyone know how to have a formula & cell reference output text cell contents?
I am using {= Sum(Table1 A1)} to report the value of the cell A1 in a table bookmarked Table1. The field outputs a numeric value but will not output the contents of the cell if text is entered. Is this possible? Is there any way to get the text contents of the cell to multiple places elsewhere in the document?

Why don't you just use a reference to a call and then place the formula in that cell? That way you are only referencing a cell location<=A5>; and in D1 have <=SUM(A1:A4)>.
