Attaching an LKQ50 keyboard to a DS10
I tried using the USB to PS2 convertor from the LK463 keyboard, but this did not work - the system does not see the keyboard. The convertor only works with the 3X-LK463-A2.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Andrew

Re: Attaching an LKQ50 keyboard to a DS10
If that works, it _might_ be that us USB-chip (if DS10 has a USB port, I don;t know that machine) is not supported, I've heard tell VMS will only support Lucent chipset. BE sure to have USB-patch for VMS installed.

Re: Attaching an LKQ50 keyboard to a DS10
Thank you for your response.
When I connect the LKQ50 via the USB/PS2 adapter from the LK463 keyboard, and power on the DS10, the DS10 does not get to the SRM prompt. It just hangs. Hanging on a keyboard test I guess.
If I connect the LK463 keyboard it works normally, and I get to the SRM prompt. I have tried setting the console keyboard paramter kbd_hardware_type, but this does not help.
With regards
Andrew

Re: Attaching an LKQ50 keyboard to a DS10
I never used USB keyboard so I'm sure how solve your problem.
With a standard LK411 keyboard ord using a VT terminal go into SRM (BIOS).
Then type
>>>SET KBD_HARDWARE_TYPE
and you receive values can you enter (LK411, PCXALL and other, if possible).
Also, if you use USB keyboard, I think, you have use graphical card not serial port so you could type
>>>SET CONSOLE GRAPHICS
After theese operation, perhaps, you could use USB keyboard.

Re: Attaching an LKQ50 keyboard to a DS10
ES47/ES80/GS1280 Alpha systems. They
are not supported on the ds10 using the
internal USB port.

Re: Attaching an LKQ50 keyboard to a DS10
Just to confirm:
USB keyboard cannot be used on DS10 - even when using a USB-PS/2 converter - so it's connected to the 'normal' keyboard connector?
That would imply that the USB-keyboard is yet another type (aside PCXALL and LK411), due to it's internal hardware (keycodes, low-level handshake). Well, makes sense given the fact that SRM doesn't recognize it on startup...

Re: Attaching an LKQ50 keyboard to a DS10
will work with an lk463 keyboard. The
converter is specific to that keyboard, though. I don't know about the lkq50,
I presume it doesn't have its own converter,
in which case it won't work on this platform.
