AVAIL_MAN and AVAIL verb not known
previously I applied the patch 62TO71PCSI
The node has been rebooted.
@SYS$STARTUP:AMDS$STARTUP START
gives "normal" messages
sda> show lan
shows Amds
EWA17 81D87C80 802E 08-00-2B-80-48 AMDS 0017 STRTN,LEN,UNIQ,STRTD
Then
$ avail/motif
or $ avail/zorro
gives
%DCL-W-IVVERB, unrecognized command verb - check validity and spelling
\AVAIL\
At
http://h71000.www7.hp.com/openvms/products/availman/6552INSTALL_vms.HTML
the last lines say something with (maybe) a relationship with my problem
---------------------
If you later install a version of DECamds that is earlier than Version 7.3-1, you must reinstall the Availability Manager to define the AVAIL command correctly.
---------------------
I have installed twice AVAIL_MAN V2.3 with no improvement :-(
Thanks for any hint.

Re: AVAIL_MAN and AVAIL verb not known
that depends ;-) If this is the only thing that went wrong during the installation, yes this will cure it. If anything else went astray you might be setting yourself up for some lengthy "fun" trying to figure out what the problem is.
How does product show hist look like (including Avail Man and AMDS)?
Greetings, Martin

Re: AVAIL_MAN and AVAIL verb not known
There is Decw 1.2-4, as this is required in the installation guide.
I will post it tomorrow.
May be I will install it again tomorrow with all the debug qualifiers (/log/trace/debug=xxx)
in order to see if I have more than the 3 lines with
-I-
that I saw.
regards
Gerard

The suspicious reader will notice the lack of y2k patches and all rating 1 patches :-}
But the customer does not want yet to apply them, as this is a production node.

Re: AVAIL_MAN and AVAIL verb not known
Directory SYS$COMMON:[SYSLIB]
DCLTABLES.EXE;112 772/772 4-NOV-2003 16:24:40.96 4-NOV-2
003 16:24:42.35
So the Dcltables was updated when I applied the 62TO71PCSI, but not when I applied (twice) the AVAIL_MAN.
So it is quite logical that the verb AVAIL is not known.

Re: AVAIL_MAN and AVAIL verb not known
As I usually install Amds, I type
$ avail
on Vms, but here, with Availability Manager and not Amds, it will be the PC who will manage.
The message
The Availability Manager Java Data Analyzer cannot be installed on this vers
ion of OpenVMS AXP. Do you want to install the Availability Manager Data Collect
that I read carefully (for once!).
In the Pcsi$description, I found
if (
option AM_ANALYZER ;
directory [AMDS$AM.JRE] ;
module [SYSUPD]AMDS$COMMAND.CLD
As I have Vms 6.2-1H3...
Sorry for wasting your time.
