Re: AXP 500/400
there was no embedded controller for the alphaserver 1000 series. You were able to select from a range.
The Systems and Options catalogues are here:-

Re: AXP 500/400
the SOC seems to imply that a DE435 was standard, but I am sure that I received an AS100A 4/266 with FDDI only, many years agao.
"Systems include PCI-based Ethernet controller
(DE435-AA); uses one PCI slot, two additional PCIbased"
controllers supported per system.

Re: AXP 500/400
In a normal maintenance contract, a stations would hold 3 partnumbers : station, disk and graph card. Right ?

Re: AXP 500/400
Yes, the AlphaStation 500 have an embedded NIC - I assume it is a DE500 type.
<< Am I correct to say that the AS 500 graphical card and hard disk were both options ?
In a normal maintenance contract, a stations would hold 3 partnumbers : station, disk and graph card. Right ? >>
It depends on the HW configuration.
If it is a base configuration 4 items should be on the contract.
If it is an advantage configuration 2 items should be on the contract.
The SW needs at least 2 items on the contract, as it was in the old days, this might have changed

Re: AXP 500/400
BUT ours are PB560-A9 (unlisted on hp.com). What did they get as default ?
Also : shouldn't the additional memory be on the contract too ?

I would say the PB560-A9 is an AlphaStation 500/400MHz "basic" box. Most components are options...
