Cluster setup for new terminal
Hello all, I am posting this as a new thread and try to make my query more clear.
I recently installed V 7.3-2 on EV68 (DS 25)Alpha workstation with lot of help from forums. It has Dec net plus, and Lancp however Decnet is not running and Tcp Ip needs to be configured.
I currently have 2 node common environment cluster environment running on Ethernet lan with V7.3-1. I need to add the new system EV68 as a Satellite node.
Do I need to setup EV68 by running Cluster_config and then run Cluster_config on clustered system? Where should I run Cluster_Config first?
for EV68 (New system) I have given it the dec net address and from that I calculated the system id. It does not have TCP Ip address. I am not sure how to assign the Decnet full name?
Can anyone please let me know what steps I need to do?
There are couple of steps I have done but I do not wish to add more confusion to my query at this moment.
Thanks in advance

Re: Cluster setup for new terminal
Normally you should invoke cluster_config on the current cluster bootnode and enter the appropriate information about the new node. You then boot the new node from the V7.3-1 disk (via Boot EWA0...), it performs an AUTOGEN, reboots and bingo, that's it.
You can then check the MODPARAMS.DAT on the new systemroot on the V7.3-1 disk for the new node, and 'transfer' the clusterrelevant parameter settings to the local MODPARAMS.DAT on the V7.3-2 disk and copy the cluster authorization file in SYS$SYSTEM (the name escapes my memory in the moment and I have no VMS system at hand, it is something along the line of CLUSTER_AUTHORIZE.DAT) over to the V7.3-2 system. Then reboot the new node from the V7.3-2 disk, perform an AUTOGEN and reboot it. It should join the existing cluster.

Re: Cluster setup for new terminal
Thanks for the reply Kris,
I have started the procedure of Cluster_config and have bunch of options and questions.
My basic objective to add an Alpha node to the clustered (common system disk) environment
Now I went to the clustered node and ran cluster_config (with Lancp) and choose (1) Add node
Then it asked is this node to be a clustered node with SCSI/FIBRE CHANNEL ? Yes (I have lan so in the cluster example they mentioned yes)
What is the node's SCS node name?: PLUTO
What is the node's full decnet name?: (Can I give any name here for e.g [.DISK3]
what is the Mop name [PLUTO]? "accepted default"
Does PLUTO need to be registered [N]? YES
(As I had not registered this before)
Ran through some operations
What is the Cluster Alias fullname?
I still have to read more about what Cluster Alias mean? hence I have stopped here. and gave Ctrl Y and aborted.
I would specifically like to know more about the above questions as I could not get a clear understanding from the manuals.
