Creating TCP/IP Terminals

Creating TCP/IP Terminals

We currently use LAT to create LTA ports that connect to a terminal server that has a bank of fax modems attached. We would like to change to using TCP/IP for the connectivity instead of LAT. How can change the following commands to similar commands using TCP/IP?

MC LATCP CREATE PORT LTAxxx:
MC LATCP SET PORT LTAxxx: /NODE=node /PORT=port -
/APPLICATION/NOLOG/NOQUEUE

Thanks in advance.

Re: Creating TCP/IP Terminals

It's called "reverse LAT", and the equivalent is "reverse telnet". Here's a write-up:

Google will find various other discussions.

The crufty old VMS FAQ also has a brief pointer:

Re: Creating TCP/IP Terminals

RickB,

But beware, as noted in a recent posting, Reverse Telnet is intended to connect printers, and doesn't work very well with modems. You can make it read and write, but you can't manipulate modem control signals.

Re: Creating TCP/IP Terminals

Hi

Please refer the documentation on the TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS TELNET command CREATE_SESSION.

Hope this helps.
