FTSV for alpha and VAX are here

I don't know if a VMS I64 version is planned.

Do you use FTSV for its compression functionality or file transfer or both?

Fod file compression ZIP/UNZIP exist for VMS VAX, Alpha, and I64.

Re: does ftsv kind of utility present on OpenVMS IA64

We use FTSV heavily for parallel transfer of large files to remote nodes. These remote nodes are connected by means of 2MB links, so parallel operation is essential.

Shure, we could write our own batch creator, but we also like the fact that a interrupted copy does not restart from the beginning.

Any chance FTSV does make it to the IA64?

Re: does ftsv kind of utility present on OpenVMS IA64

for file compression see zip/unzip.

I'm told that porting FTSV to Itanium is non-trivial due to FTSV's knowledge of the VMS image format (which has radically changed on I64 VMS).

As I suspect most people use the file transfer facility in ftsv rather than its abilities to with self extrating images etc then I wonder if a port with the parts that know about the VMS image format disabled would be of use.

Or they could make the sources available :-)

Of course if you can make a good business case to hp then they could do the port.
