error when running the command product

Hello,

I'm working on a DS20 running 7.2.2. when trying to run the command product show product I'm getting this error "error opening SYS$COMMON:[SYSEXE]PCSI$ROOT.PCSI$DATABASE;1 as input". Did anyone face this problem before. Thx in advanced.

Regards,
Ziad

That sounds like the main PCSI data base. If
it has gone missing, you might start looking
at your BACKUP data.

Silly question, did you just install a PCSI eco? You'll need log out and in again.

If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over? Reach me at first_name + "." + last_name at sysmanager net

Ziad,

check, if the PCSI files have version number 1, if not rename to it.

Re: error when running the command product

Hello,

Thx all for your replies.
I checked the pcsi files they have all the version 1, but I didn't find SYS$COMMON:[SYSEXE]PCSI$ROOT.PCSI$DATABASE;1.
I installed 4 patches and not only "logged out", I did reboot to the machine and I was getting the same error.

Re: error when running the command product

Logging in again or rebooting would not
replace a lost file. But you've probably
figured that out for yourself.

I assume that this data base is created when
VMS is installed, and no one should have
deleted it. I doubt that there's a way to
recreate it (other than installing VMS
again), but someone else may know more than
I.

time to test your recovery strategy and restore that file from backup. Check for what else may be missing

It's possible that the file has been "lost" -- have you tried using DFU VERIFY or ANALYZE/DISK to see if either of those find the file?
