OpenVMS 8.4 startup is failing with ICAP_SERVER can not be started.

Hello,

the problem occured after upgrading rx3660 from OpenVMS 8.3-1H1 to OpenVMS 8.4 Since upgrade every attempt to boot the system fails with the event :

 

%%%%%%%%%%%  OPCOM   7-MAY-2013 19:01:12.67  %%%%%%%%%%%

Message from user SYSTEM on SNAY11

ICAP-E-CREPRC, ICAP_SERVER can not be started. status=8E8

 

Minimial startup is working with no problem. Can anybody help me please to find out where the problem is ?

Lets start by looking at the status value:

8E8 equates to: %SYSTEM-W-NONEXPR, nonexistent process

While this appears to be a bit odd, you need to look at the command procedure that is generating this status. From the HELP/MESSAGE:


NONEXPR, nonexistent process

Facility: SYSTEM, System Services

Explanation: A process name or process identification specified in a
command or system service request is not valid.

User Action: Verify that the process name or identification is correct and
that the process is not already deleted. If a process name is
entered, the process must be in the same group. If the process
name includes spaces or lowercase letters, enclose the name in
quotes to preserve the correct spelling.


Hopefully this will provide a few hints...
