Pathworks 32 v 7.4 and PowerTerm

I just received my new CD and installed PowerTerm. To my surprise, it states that it is a 30 evaluation copy. Didn't we used to get this terminal emulator as part of the Pathworks 32 software?

If this is the case, I can save my company some money since we no longer use DECnet, LAT, ...

Re: Pathworks 32 v 7.4 and PowerTerm

Hello Irene,

the SPD for Pathworks 7.4 at

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/info/SP5633/SP5633pf.pdf

does not indicate at all that PowerTerm would not be part of the licensed product anymore. In case you do have problems you should get in touch with your account rep.

Hi Irene,
I don't know PW32 V7.4 but in previous CD were two versione of powerterm; one was evaluation copy; perhaps until now there are two powerterm!

Please inform us about this one!

Re: Pathworks 32 v 7.4 and PowerTerm

Is it possible that the demo version is SSH capable Powerterm and there is another Powerterm there but without SSH functionality?

Have not yet tried Pathworks 32 V7.4 but I have reason to suspect above being the case.

Re: Pathworks 32 v 7.4 and PowerTerm

Hi

Thanks for all the responses to my question. It turns out that when I installed PowerTerm v5.6, the installation created a shortcut to the evaluation version; it never refers to the unexpiring version. I looked in the installation directory and found the executable that I am used to seeing, pt525.exe. (The installation pointed to ptw32.exe.)

Sneaky. I guess this is the only way they can entice us to try out their product.

Thanks again.

I've been told by the Dutch representative of Ericom that Powerterm is free for Decnet and LAT, but for TCPIP you'll need a license.

I guess this Ericom giving anyway the parts that few people want. Don't you need a LAT or DECnet driver for your PC to make this work?
