5.1B fibre woes

I have an AlphaServer ES45 connected to an IBM 2109 switch, which in turn, is connected to an IBM ESS. I am running 5.1B with PK4, and 6.8 firmware. My KGPSA-DA card can see the ESS volumes from the console prompt, but as soon as I boot, they are no longer visible from hwmgr. I've made sure that entries in the ddr.dbase & cam_data.c files are correct per IBM, but am completely at a loss as to what may be causing this. I am going to try to install NHD7 just for kicks. Also, the switch sees both the Alpha & the ESS & both are the only ports in a zone I created. I've also ensured that the topology is configured correctly. Other machines are connected to the ESS (HP-UX) and are working fine. I may also upgrade the firmware on the ESS, but I feel like I'm chasing shadows with this problem. IBM has validated the configuration, and aside from upgrading the ESS firmware, is at a loss (so are the HP guys) as to this behavior.

Has anyone experience this problem, and if so, how was it resolved?

Thanks!

Re: 5.1B fibre woes

David,

I think your config is supported... Did you take a look at the IBM's ESS host attachment guide ?
If not, there is a full chapter detailing in step-by-step about attaching a Alpha server with ESS and I hope you would find all the info. from there. I have used the doc. for other systems like AIX, SUN etc. and it works.
Link for the document is here, and refer Chapter 3. Attaching to a Hewlett-Packard AlphaServer Tru64 UNIX host.

Re: 5.1B fibre woes

The system is using only the file ddr.db. It's a compiled version of ddr.dbase. Are you shure that this file contains correct settings too?

Re: 5.1B fibre woes

We are stuck. Going to try & update the LIC on the 2105-F20.

IBM 's install guide states no required changes to the ddr.dbase for fibre.
