Disabling scsi reserve/release for IBM tape drives
Hi
We use rman/legato to backup our Oracle databases running on tru64 5.1B. Our backup server also runs tru64 5.1B. We have been having some problems lately, and the recommendation from our legato support is to disable scsi reserve/release on our IBM ULTRIUM tape drives. According to the recommendation, it should be disabled on the tru64 hosts. Do you possibly know where and how this is disabled?
We aslo have EMC storage in our environment, and when we have to disable the scsi reserve/release for the storage, it is done on the EMC system.
Thanks

Re: Disabling scsi reserve/release for IBM tape drives
ask IBM how to disable this. IBM must deliver informations for DDR.dbase table or switch on tape itself.

Re: Disabling scsi reserve/release for IBM tape drives
Hi,
I happened to find a section called "Removing persistent reserves for Tru64 UNIX 5.x" in Chapter 3 of the ESS attachment guide I was reading relative to the IBM storage attachment question posted above in the forum. And that's the only instruction I could find regardig the topic in IBM redbooks site.
I hope you may be able to follow the instructions in there to try to remove the persistent reserves, though they were in the context for "Shark" disks. It explains how to use the scu command to do that.
Here is the link to document from IBM, http://publibfp.boulder.ibm.com/epubs/pdf/f2bhs05.pdf
