Hello All.
Is somebody knows yet if the current AdvFS domains (DVN 4) will be compatible with the HP-UX 11i v3 release ?
Thanks in advance. Francois.

Re: AdvFS and HP-UX 11i v3
If you are thinking about being able to take a storage unit with AdvFS from an EVA5000 connected to Tru64 V5.x, dismount it, and remount it unmodified on a HP-UX 11.xx, then you probably can forget that.
Johan.

Re: AdvFS and HP-UX 11i v3
Hi,
I doubt it very much. I don't think, they will port it right down to the disklabel, which is quite different than on HP-UX.
I dare to say, they will port the concept of advfs, but not the physical layout.
Well, maybe Ralf can shed a little more light on it.
greetings,
Michael

Solution
Hello,
I'm not sure which AdvFS version will be available, if it is v4 or a newer version. But, since the platforms are not binary compatible (Big Indian vs. Little Indian)byte ordering, I would not expect that you could simply move storage from one to the other. You will have to dump/restore or go through some conversion process for DB's. There is allot of information on the Tru64 UNIX to HP-UX Migration web site -> http://h30097.www3.hp.com/transition/ .
Hope that helps,
Dave Bechtold
