Alphaserver 8400 & Tru64 5.1B

I have an old DEC Alphaserver I have loaded 5.1B of Tru64 on. It will pass all hardware self tests but will not find any of my device groups when I give it a "sho dev" at the hardware prompt. It hangs there. I have tried booting it but it says my boot device is no longer valid. I have "init"ed the machine and it returns ok. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hmm, how did you load 5.1b if you do not see any devices?

If you see no devices, I'd start to verify and re-seat any and all cables going to and from the PCI cage (DWLPx). You know, that big fat black cable going from the KTFHA
to the dwalpi(s).
Or do you have an KTFIA IO module with integrated scsi/network?
Pop and reseat those also while you have the power down.

There is power to the scsi shelfs and pci cage is there?

Maybe you can post the output of a P00>>> SHOW CONFIG ?!

hth,
Hein.

After further diagnosis I found that even though the controller card was reporting back that it passed its self test it was not comminicating with the disk shelf. I swapped the cable with another controller and got a response back. Cahnged the bad controller card and it booted up. Thanks.
