Can Tru64 V4.0D support 73GB and larger disks?
User wants to replace a HSZ70 with 350GB raid5 with a 350GB JBOD using a regular
UWscsi controller (KZPBA-CX),
M4214R disk shelf with 73GB or 146GB disks.
The system is a A4100 EV56 400Mhz.
Will Tru64 V4.0D support the larger disks?
I know the V4.0F and up will.

Re: Can Tru64 V4.0D support 73GB and larger disks?
Hmm, if the 350 GB raid5 worked, then one would expect any 350 GB SCSI drive to work independent of the underlying technology.
Whether it is officially supported or not is more a question for support, none of the helpful souls here are to be trusted for 'official' information. It is all best effort. No more, no less.
fwiw,
Hein.

Re: Can Tru64 V4.0D support 73GB and larger disks?
The HSZ70 masks the actual device characteristics and just presents the raid volume. Now the OS has to manage the actual
disk device via the SCSI adapter. The LVM
at this version of Tru64 is sort of limited.
I don't know of any UW scsi PCI raid adapters that will handle a raid volume larger than 32gb that will work with V4.0D.
I can use the HSZ70 and replace the BA356
shelves with a M4214. V4.0D will support the
HSZ70.
But the user doesn't want to mess with a
HSZ70 anymore.
