DS25 network problem after switch port switch

Hi all,

we reconnected a DS25 to a port on a different switch while it was running. Is that supported/recommended? I have noticed a Send-Q buildup to our wireless PC via access points but I have no clue whether it is the DS25 that caused the problem or the part to the pcs. After we rebooted the machine, it seems to have solved the problem.

Comments are appreciated.

Re: DS25 network problem after switch port switch

It's often difficult to speculate as to what the problem might have been after a reboot. The best time to collect evidence of a problem is when the problem is happening.

Unless someone else has had the very same problem or your previous logs have some indication of a problem, one can only guess as to the cause.

When you change the switch, you will see a delay until the spanning tree protocol updates its table, so you could have some connection problems for awhile. The switches learn the location of the IP/MAC address, but you should give some time to the switch to do that.

Thanks for the postings.

Well, after five hours my colleague decided to reboot the DS25.

JAJAJA, that was enough time to wait, ah?

The link down and up may refreshed the switch. I think that the problem should be troubleshooted at switch level, if you plan to do that again ;).
