Re: Initializing CDE using Console

I have installed Tru64 on my AlphaServer 8200. I installed the cde, but I only see a text based interface. Now that I think about it I might not have the graphical capabilities or could it be something else?

Re: Initializing CDE using Console

What is the model number on the back of
your the video screen, VTxxx ??
If it's VT420 or VT510, you have a serial
console.(or is it a terminal emulator
on a PC? )

What is the result of the "sizer -gt"
command ?
If the result is "nil" then is no functional
graphics card in the AS8200.

Re: Initializing CDE using Console

Hi,

with a vt520 you can't do graphics. Do as Johan suggested or look behind the machine, whether you find a vga connector. If so, connect mouse, keyboard and vga monitor to the machine, set console on the srm prompt to graphics, init and boot.

Re: Initializing CDE using Console

another approach is to use excursion or another X-Terminal emulator on another machine to redirect the graphical display.
