Install Gigagit Ethernet Card DEGXA on AS4100

Hi,
I would like to install a 3X-DEGXA-TA on my AS4100. The SRM console firmware is limited to v6.0-4 even from CD firmware v6.5. Under console prompt, DEGXA is unknown, it just displays slot #, Ethernet, type # and unknown. AS4100 runs Tru64 Unix version 5.1A with patch PK5. I boot genvmunix and configure this NIC but i don't see it in single user mode and Tru64 crashed in multi users mode.
Does SRM console limits the use of this card on AS4100 or it has another procedure to configure that card ?

try installing nhd kit #6. In the release notes there is your adapter mentioned. Look into the docs.

First, it is unprofessional behaviour to buy a card and plug it into a maschine hoping it will work. In professional market you must first look into the hardware support list of the machine. If it may work it doesn't tell you anything about if it is support. So if a server crashes maybe nobody is really interested on your problem - because it is not supported!

If the card is not seen in console mode (srm) then it is either not supported or firmware is not on the latest version.
Be sure you have read the installation instruction mention how to install the card correctly.... I've checked the supported option list for AS4100 and this card is not supported in the machine.

The DEGXA is NOT supported in the AS 4100
The other sister card DEGPA-TA is supported but you need to install the required patches.
Always check the requirements and options for systems before buying, not everything is plug-n-play.
