Installing Tru64 5.1B in Alpha 4100
Hello everybody.
I am some new in Unix world.I am helping a colege to install a new Tru64 5.1B in a Digital Alpha 4100. We followed all tasks related to update firmware (actual is 6.0)when starting instalation. At the begining we get an advise that says "failed ....ev7_ocla subsystem.." I found in unix web site that this message is normal. After this series of normal messages the screen turns to graphics, shows the cursor in the upper left corner and in the center there are 3 bars to select language. The problem we have is that after this screen is shown the server seems to be hang up, but the light in cdrom continues flashing, the mouse doesnt move and the keyboard dont response. We dont konow what happend. Waited arround 15 minutes and later the monitor turns off similar to sleep...We moved video cards between slots and tryed other OEM (Trident 9xxx)...Every aid is welcome.

Re: Installing Tru64 5.1B in Alpha 4100
Hello
Try to upgrade console firmware to 6.5 or higher. You should have graphics card that supported in alpha servers. Card that is shiped with AS4100 works fine. Message you saw is OK.
First upgrade firmware and then tell us if something is wrong.

In vino veritas, in VMS cluster
