Is that really means Hardware issue???
I am getting the follow during the boot sequence
Medium Error at block number: 418160
Hard Error Detected
Hardware ID = 46
Maxtor 6E040L0 NAR6
Active CCB at time of error
CCB request completed with an error
Error, exception, or abnormal condition
MEDIUM ERROR - Nonrecoverable medium error
cam_logger: SCSI event packet
cam_logger: hardware_id=46 bus 0 target 0 lun 0
cdisk_check_sense
Medium Error at block number: 418160
Hard Error Detected
Hardware ID = 46
Maxtor 6E040L0 NAR6
Active CCB at time of error
and same error repeat for several other block numbers
so is enough to prove hardware error and replace the disk
kindly advice
BR

Re: Is that really means Hardware issue???
You might get away with reassigning the bad blocks with scu, for example:
scu> reassign lba 418160
However I remember having lots of reliability issues with Maxtor IDE drives a few years back...
Cheers,
Rob

Re: Is that really means Hardware issue???
That being the case it is time to replace the drive and restore the system.
As Rob suggested you might try scu... Or if the errors stop during normal running, you might simply 'leave it' for now. But it will probably get worse, and you probably run the risk tha the next boot may not work at all.
