							KZPCC raid controller for Alpha/Tru64

						Hi,
Can anyone tell me how the Alpha console (>>>) unitnumbering scheme works for pza0?
Configuring a number of drives on a KZPCC gives me dza5xx, dza5xy etc.
When I replace a disk (e.g. a jbod)and configure the new diskunit with the bios menu of the KZPCC I get a new dza5xz. In the worst case other units are shufeld as well.
How can I rename the unitnumber so I get again recognizable devices?
Please advise.

						hello Philip,
I should guess the KZPCC also works with WWID's.
as a result the disks are presented to the host in order of WWID so the unit created with the lowest WWID is allwayz the first disk. So when a new volume is created the newly created WWID could lie between other WWID's. as a result the existing units are reshuffled.
Also WWID's are unique so you cannot recreate a WWID.
Possiblibly you can us WWIDMGR on the console-prompt to assign fixed device-names to these units to prevent this reshuffling.

						Hi,

You should rename the unit# on O.S level not on console(>>>).
If you are in V5.x, you can use #dfsmgr command to rename your unit# by included "-m" or "-e".
If you are in V4.x, you can rm previous device and new created device in /dev/r??? then /dev/MAKEDEV [device name] to create the new device.
good Luck,
Scott Lin
