You could start with the installation guide which can be found on Oracle's website.

This is for Oracle 8i (8.1.7).

Why not install Oracle 10g? Big advantage is e.g. the Oracle Enterprise Manager (Web based DBA utility).

Much more functionality; and Oracle 8i is not supported any more!
