pg command error
I've installed HP Tru 64 Unix v4.0G patch kit 4
last night.
Unfortunately, after the installation,
when I issue the "pg" (page command),
it returned wit the following error messages
12763:/usr/bin/pg: /sbin/loader: Error: Unresolved symbol in /usr/bin/pg: safe_open
12763:/usr/bin/pg: /sbin/loader: Fatal Error:
this executable has unresolvable symbols
It didn't appear before the patch kit 4.
Can someone please advise !
Thanks,
Felix Wong

Re: pg command error
Google finds some references, but no resolution.
I would start an investigation with ldd.
See what libraries pg expects and how they have changed (or not).
Supposedly this symbols comes from libc.
google: +tru64 +safe_open
Good luck,
Hein.
PROBLEM: (93908) (PATCH ID: OSF540-090)
********
This patch corrects a failure in the safe_open() routine which caused
symbolic links given by a relative path from the current working directory
sometimes to give ENOENT errors incorrectly. This was specific to having
no 'real' (non-".") leading components before the first symlink was found.

Re: pg command error
Why Tru64 4.0G? ... thats in Prior Version Support (see the URL below).
http://h20219.www2.hp.com/services/cache/11774-0-0-225-121.html
Only V5.1B is still in full support. Also, as far as I'm aware, I think V4.0G was really more of a hardware release to allow better compatability with fibre channel storage ... which was questionable at best. If you can, I'd look to upgrade to V5.1B ... otherwise downgrade to V4.0F
