Power supplys on ES40 w/Tru64

Hi
I tried to remove a power supply from one of my es40's and add it to another and I get ps config error. How do I get around this. Do I delete it using hwmgr? tru64 5.1b

How many CPUs and how much memory do you have on the server you're removing the power supply from? Are you going from three to two power supplies or from two to one? Where exactly is this error showing up? At the console (">>>") prompt?

I am going from 1 to 2. it is showing up on the lcd display. I never get to a crt prompt on power up.
Both servers have 4 Gig...The one I am moving the ps to has 4 cpus. The one I am pilfering has 4 also but its test.

Re: Power supplys on ES40 w/Tru64

One power supply is insufficient to power a four CPU configuration in an ES40. See page 8 of:

Are you getting the error on the system you're taking a PS away from or on the system you're trying to add to?
