Sendmail configuration

Hi I am trying to sendmail to external smtp addresses. My system is in DNS and I can NSLookup the smtp servers, but my system cannot send mail to any external address. Is there any change required in my sendmail,cf file required?

use mailsetup to configure sendmail, select "mail client" and follow questions.
