System overhead associated with turning on "System Accounting"
Could anyone give me a ballpark figure with the overall cpu/overhead involved with enabling System Accounting for user processes? Thank you very much.

Re: System overhead associated with turning on "System Accounting"
Not sure I understand your reply. But I would just like to know what the system overhead is when turning on System accounting.
Like say, " if you turn it on, the process in order to accumulate data is x% of the cpu ". Naturally, based on size of machine and number of processes in which you are monitoring. I'm looking at the gs160 level or es45. Thanks for your input.

Re: System overhead associated with turning on "System Accounting"
accounting requires additional work for the logging subsystem and monitoring of some system-command. The impact depend on how often a process will be called and how busy the I/O and logging subsystem will be.
I'm not sure if there is a general formula to calculate the overhead.

Re: System overhead associated with turning on "System Accounting"
I guess I'm just trying to get at some sort of "system cost" that it would take in order to activate the accounting subsystem. for examaple, say if the system normally fuctioned at 60% busy, then with System Accounting turned on it would now run at 60 + ? % busy.
Kind regards,
Tom
