Tru64 V5.1B Can't login, if NIS Server down or network down

Hello,

if the nis server down or network down i can't login to nis client.

NIS: server not responding for domain "wobel.home.net"; still trying
occur
passwd and group file no + at the end.
in nsswitch.conf files is the first entry for all

any idea?

Is the login not completing at all, or is it just taking a long time, i.e. 5 minutes or so? With Tru64 UNIX it is normal that logins will take a long time to complete if the NIS master is down because the system checks for NIS groups even on local accounts. The best way to avoid this is to configure a slave server so that you always have one active.

the login is not completely at all.

i have wait 10 minutes and longer but
still every 6 second i see: Nis server not responding still trying

Can you verify that you are correctly entering a local username? What patch kit are you running?

Local user name is root and i try the login on console
pk4 is installed
