TZ89 Scsi Error

Running DEC Unix 4.0F, DS10 machine stops recording with CAM Error (attached). This happens only once or twice a year, but is critical for us.

"Unit not ready", "Hardware error detected.....", maybe it is a problem with the media itself. Please check other medias and if problem persists open a call within the HP support center.

The tape just stops recording data. I can restart recording.

The sense bit/data is valid, check in the drive manual for error code CODE x70
This might clarify the problem

Ralf,
I've noticed that the same errors occur whith failing Hard Disks. See "dec es40 scsi error" posted on Mar 26. So I don't think it will be a media error, more a scsi bus error ?

how persistent is the problem?
Do you regularly change the tapes and use a cleaning tape?
There is also a tool called ltt, which can crate a ticket for the support.

the problem only occured once. we change tapes very frequent and use a cleaning tape very regulary. but we are in a air traffic env, and the problem is critical. it should not happen again.
