9200e makes SCSI adapter freeze at boot

The SCSI adapter (Adaptec AHA-2930CU) is in working order and boots fine. Until I plug in my external 9200 Series CDR. The system hangs at the SCSI card splash screen after reboot.

I've tried several SCSI id's for the CDR, 0, 6, etc. same effect.

SCSI card has a config utility which can be invoked from the same splash screen where the it hangs with CDR. There are some advanced options in the config utility.

any ideas?

Hi Gene,

Check whether u have properly terminated your external drive. Also check the cables and connectivity.

While the system works fine, open the utility and find out whether the external devices/connections are enabled. Also check for jumbers/switches which enables external devices.
