Dell and 8200e

I do have the same problem with my Dell Lattitude CPx and Windows 2000. Happens that after trying to install the 8200 and installing the Adaptec software, my Internal CD/DVD it is not working now. When I go to the Device Manager I got the following message:

"This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"

Any idea about what to do to get my DVD/CD to work again?

Re: Dell and 8200e

If your 8200e is a "B" version drive, it requires a driver update. See the following web page and find the 8200e in the grid:

Read the USB note at the bottom of the page. Good luck!

In most cases, you will not be able to install a HP USB CDW on this computer under Win2000.This is a known issue. There is a document which explains this.

Any further info. needed,just ask.

Re: Dell and 8200e

A new BIOS was released last month that ostensibly fixes this problem. The version is A10 or A09 depending upon whether you have a CPx J or a CPx H. This month a newer BIOS was released which fixes some battery-related problems but also included the HP CDRW fix. While you're up on Dell's website, you might want to consider downloading/installing the new UDMA driver they've got there. It's allegedly "higher performance". Good luck!
