DVD/CD Burner Model 200i - writes DVD's but not CD's

I used to be able to burn both CD's and DVD's.
Now I can only burn DVD's.
The error message I get while burning a CD indicates that I have a media error or dirty media (not the case, I have tried three different CD-R's media)

Any ideas?

the requirements of the burner are, xp,2000 prosp2,

i expect you are using 1 of these.

we dont know what burning s/w you are using.

please try and use the RW section see if working.

can you take your burner to another machine to try, this may indicate if your s/w or hardware.

try and use another burning s/w.

scan for virus

I suppose it's been a long time, but would like to know if you came across any solution or workaround for this. If so, please let me know about it.

I was wondering if you tried with hp cd-r/cd-rw media and also checked out the firmware update available for download on hp website.
