HP DVD Writer dc4000 - any experience using

Hello, does anyone have experience using the HP external DVD writer dc4000? I would be interested in your experiences with the use of this product with a new HP (fast, 3.2 mhz processor) notebook, and the use of a hifi vcr with this writer to create DVDs, via the notebook connections with the DVD writer.

Also, any suggestion of DVD media types that have been used successfully with this specific dc4000 writer?
