Fujitsu-Siemens HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N

Hello !
I used to have a Sony DVD +RW DW-P50A DVD-drive in my Compaq nx7000. It stopped working propperly and I had it replaced with a
Fujitsu-Siemens HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N
The work was done by my lokal HP-support workshop.
The new drive is working just fine, but the problem is that everytime I boot my laptop the "found new hardware" wizard pops up.
No matter how i proseed the result is the same every time, "cannot install hardware because no software was found"
This is annoying, and after searching everywhere and trying a number of different solutions, I still have this problem.
Even HP-support cannot help. The only solution offered is a full reformat, but I hope I can avoid that.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem ?
I'm using Win XP Pro. The firmware for the DVD-drive is 1.19

Well Bjorn,

I have a Fujitsu-Siemens notebook that uses that LG drive same as you. What I can say about it is that it may be recognized the drive as secondary, and not primary. When that happens, Windows may not recognize the drive.
Now I have a question... Where can I find the firmware upgrade for this LG drive? I wanted to do the firmware upgrade and I don´t find anything. Can you tell me where you've found your firmware v1.19? I have only the first one: 1.02... :(

Thanks for replay.
I had to do a full reformat and new install to resolve my problem.

You can download the 1.19 firmware here:

It's marked with HP, but I think this is a normal firmware regardless of branch.
Give it A try.

After A quick search, I found out that the latest firmware for Fujitsu-Siemens is 1.03.
