HP-C1716T MO-Drive on Win9x,NT,....
I have a 1716 Drive and would like to use it on
Win 9x,NT....
Because of the Sector Size of the Rewritable Cartridges (1024) it is only Possible to use it with Special
3??rd parity Drivers or "HP Libary and Tape Tools."
Only on real DOS all works fine (with adaptec Aspi-Drivers).
I cannot use the "HP Library and Tools" because
ther is another Vendor String inside the BIOS-Version that i have.
(Neither I can update the Bios of the MO-Drive with
this software because it is not recognized as a "HP" Drive)
So , i am seraching for the DOS Flash(Bios-update) utility to Change Bios-Version and String.
I am not sure - but the DOS-update Program??s name could be dowlnd3.exe or dowlnd4.exe.
[I have Bios-Files from ??98]
Is there someone who have this Flash program file ?
------------------------------------------------------------------
The BIOS-Chips are SMD,and Onboard Solderd;
The Bios-File are split into 9 single files(dont know why !?)----
so I am not able to reprogramm the Bios-Chips
in a EPROM-Programme

Re: HP-C1716T MO-Drive on Win9x,NT,....
Hello Olli,
I'm not quite sure what it is that you're having problems with here or what you want to do.
Library and Tape Tools is purely a diagnostic program and has nothing to do with putting a file system on your MO disk. It is strictly for troubleshooting the device, reading log files and performing low level "raw" data transfer tests.
As far as the 1024 sector size, this is not an issue with Windows NT. You should have no trouble formatting the cartridge NTFS from disk administrator.
What version of 9x are you using? If you're looking for cross platform useage then FAT32 works fine as well.
Let me know what kind of error your seeing that won't allow you to format and maybe I can provide more help.
Thanks,
John
