HP Simple Trax

I have been using HP Simple Trax 2.0 which came with my HP8200i. The CD Writer
is excellent, never giving me any trouble.

Simple Trax, however, has always given me some error messages, esp. with the
file hpdb and lktrnion.dll. These error messages disappeared and I continued
to use it Simple Trax to back up my software. Recently, trying to make room on
my disk I began removing "backed up" files, then decided to check (right click,
hp simple trax, view versions) and found to my dismay that some directories are
not being backed up. I have all file types disabled, and use the specific
directory option instead, but it is ignoring certain directories no matter what
I try. When I view the Simple Trax index, it has multiple copies(4 or more) of
the same file folder in it for some of the folders, and all contain the same
files.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled HP Simple Trax, but now the old lktrnion.dll
errors come back when I try to import disks--the errors sometimes also mention
the Visual C++ library as well.

The most trying aspect of all this, is that I cannot find any support
information or updates to Simple Trax on the HP site at all.

Does anyone know where the update would be or have some better suggestion? I
like to be able to access my backups like normal CD's which Simple Trax allows.

(If no help is forthcoming, then suggest a RELIABLE backup solution for my (1-2
pcs) small business.)

Thanks,

Sean

Re: HP Simple Trax

As an addendum, here is one of the error messages. I thought I would try
again, but this comes up, then Simple Trax stays on the Importing screen with
the time ticking up until infinity, until one closes it. (Sorry, the file name
is HPMDR, not hpdb)

HPMDR caused an invalid page fault in
module LTKRN10N.DLL at 017f:200149fe.

Re: HP Simple Trax

Sean,

I have had the same problems of multiple copies of the same file. I posted a message about it. I find that if I have a file named "finances.xls" that I get a directory named @@FINANCES.XLS and then a copy of the original file is put in this folder every time a scheduled backup runs.

This is very trying and I have found no help so I have resorted to this site. I have found, via shareware.com or download.cnet.com, a file named "Backup Wizard" which I am considering downloading and evaluating. Let me know if you get any help on this because I suffer from the same thing (less the error messages).

Regards,

Mark

Re: HP Simple Trax

If you're still reading this old question...I came across it in a web search of "Simple trax." I've had a lot of problems with Simple Trax and have posted a question with no replies. As an alternative, I found a program on the CNET downloads page called "Backer" that has a 30 free trial that I am going to try. PS If anyone from HP actually reads these, it is really irritating to consumers that you provide software with your CD burners then offer absolutely no support for the product and egregiously inadequate instructions. A search of your website turns up zero, nada, nothing for reference. If you hate this software so much that you disown it, why do you even include it?
