HP7100e - Won't format CDRW
I have burned about 30 CDRs and formatted at least 20 in last two years without any problems Two weeks ago I tried writing to a CDRW that had formatted data on it, and the drive went into a loop, killing the CDRW and all of it's data. I then tried to format a new CDRW (Adaptec Direct CD), and the burner starts and after 2 minutes, the program ends with a message 'illegal block start address'. I bought some new high quality CDRWs and tried to format them, but after a couple of minutes the burner light goes off, and the format program just returns to Windows NT--no message. I have reloaded Adaptec Direct CD 2.5d and 3.01 firmware but nothing changes. I was able to write data to the new disk using Adaptec's create data disk, but not as a Direct Cd. I have also received errors that refer to "power calibration". I have treated this equipment with great care and it seems to be in a clean location.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
